Mom was born Feb 4, 1923 in Fraser Borough, Scotland as Jane Milne her mother was Isobella Gibson... Mom married Fredrick Day who was her first husband that was from St Johns, NFLD, in 1943 mom came over on the ship SS Cynthia that took her to Halifax, hence the famous picture the Brithish landing in my opinion, it is famous, mom was married to Mr Day, for several years the married did not last, they had 5,children togeather, mom then re-married my father Graham Holloway from St Johns, NFLD, moved to Hamilton, Ontario and had 8 children with my father , growing up my mom would share stories of her life was when she was just a little girl and the struggles her family had and how much she missed her family and how difficult it was in making choices in her life that were good choices, bad, sad, happy, but most of all the love she held in her heart for each of children, all 13 of them she loved very deeply, I am so blessed to have had a mother that taught me so much about the meaning of Love...... She will stay in our hearts always.... Love you mom....

Thank you so much,I must tell you how the painting was discovered, I beleive it was by fate, growing up mom always spoke of her crossing and of how there was a picture taken of her and peter on the ship when they landed, she new it was posted in the local paper but had never seen it, my sister alice had returned to Nfld for a visit one summer a few years back, and wanted to get a painting of where she grew up, she and her husband had went to a local art shop and purchased some paintings, as her husband at the time was cashing out, she was drawn to the back of the store, and that is where she found the painting way in the back of a pile of painting, she was totaly, in aw of what she had discovered, she had given me a print for my birthday, bye this time my dad had already passed and mom bless her heart had altimerzs, and was in a home, so i brought the painting to her, now keep in mind she had never see the original picture in the paper, when i showed her the painting she new it was her, but wanted to know why she was standing in the water and not on the boat, the mind is a amazing thing and so were her memories, i had only wished that she could of e braced the glory of the painting, i was so blessed to have her as my mother, i look back and i am sure my father had a hand in leading my sistwr to this painting, or we would have never know.
