I am a war bride who arrived in Newfoundland on June 4th. 1947 -- my husband, Joe Mackey was with the Newfoundland Foresters and when the war was over he decided to stay in Scotland for a while, worked with the Railway over there but then, after a year decided to come home so we flew back via KLM and landed in Gander on a very cold June day.
My husband Joe died in Dec. 2008. He was 94.
