I was a member of the British W.A.F.’s, and helped train young women to make decoys to be dropped out of the planes in an effort to disable German radar. We went to Cupids to meet Jim’s family, now that was quite a different thing! Imagine a big city girl like me arriving in Cupids- dirt roads, no running water and no stores! Corner Brook was a big improvement from rural NL, and we moved to Corner Brook after Jim went to work for Bowater’s paper mill (logging).
